Ferry to Vollen and Slemmestad

Our tip for a day excursion. Taking the Sommer boat – routes B21 and B22 is a great way to spend a day off and visit the towns along the Oslofjord, such as Vollen. B21 runs all week and B22 sails every Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer. Explore the beautiful nature, the fjord and all the scenic beaches, as well as the charming wooden houses that holds unique shops, galleries and cafes.

Vollen and Slemmestad – the industrial and holiday towns which are now popular towns with charming detached houses, beautiful beaches and many nice restaurants. In Vollen you can also visit the Oslofjord Museum, play frisbee golf and rent a boat or take a test dive. The possibilities here are many.

The coastal path connects both towns and it is nice to walk from Slemmestad to Vollen, which takes about 1.5 hours.

Daytrip with Skibladner D/S

Day round trip with Skibladner D/S

After a stay of several years due to bridge construction, Skibladner sails again down the river Vorma to Eidsvoll wharf. So why not make yourself a full-day tour with Skibladner?

For example, you can take the train to Eidsvoll station, where it is only a short walk of about 10 minutes down to the pier where Skibladner picks you up. Sail to Hamar and here it's an equally short walk from the dock back to the train to Eidsvoll.

This summer Skibladner sails between Gjøvik & Hamar down to Eidsvoll round trip every Tuesday and Friday with departure from Eidsvoll at 14.40.

From Oslo there is a train to Eidsvoll 2 times an hour and the trip takes about 35 minutes.

Skibladner has served Mjøsa since 1856 and was originally built as an extension of Norway's first railway between Christiania and Eidsvoll in 1854. Skibladner was the onward connection between Eidsvoll and Lillehammer. In recent years, Skibladner has been restored with the help of funds from the National Archives and today appears as a floating museum.

The ship was awarded the Norwegian Cultural Heritage's "Olavsrosa" quality label. The ship has a restaurant (1st place Matsalon), cafeteria (2nd place Matsalon), men's and women's salon.
For catchy happy jazz, accordion or a classical concert on deck, Skibladner is available for charter trips from the end of May to mid-September.
Just as famous as the ship itself is the traditional menu on board in the 1st place dining room, namely salmon and strawberries. This menu has long traditions on board, but it is of course possible to order other dishes. The ship can seat up to 130 people seated at tables in the various lounges.

Rivercruise with M/S Elvekongen

M/S Elvekongen was brought from Lofoten to Årnes in 1993. Since then, the boat has operated in scheduled and charter traffic on the Glomma and Vorma rivers.

The boat was fully refurbished in 2022 and is now in better condition than ever before

Elvekongen runs three-hour river cruises every Sunday in June, July, and August. These cruises typically include passage through the Svanfoss lock.

Coffee, waffles, soft drinks, and simple kiosk items can be purchased on board, and Elvekongen is fully licensed to serve alcohol.

In addition to regular river cruises, special themed trips are occasionally organized. These include, among others, pirate adventures for children, shrimp cruises, and jazz cruises. Several joint trips are also arranged in cooperation with the steamship D/S Skibladner.

Elvekongen can also be chartered by companies, associations, and others. The boat is well suited for anniversaries, weddings, confirmations, and other private gatherings.

Elvekongen accommodates up to 45 passengers and is based at Årnes Pier, located right next to Årnes Station. There is a good train connection from Oslo, and by car it is only 45 minutes from downtown Oslo and 30 minutes from Oslo Airport Gardermoen.

Rigmor cruise – boat cruise on the Oslo fjord

Welcome onboard Rigmor – explore island hopping in Asker and Bærum's beautiful archipelago

From Kadettangen in Sandvika, the ferry M / S Rigmor run on a regular basis between islands in the Oslo Fjord's most beautiful archipelago. Avoid long queues and large crowds. A local day excursion with a good atmosphere in beautiful scenery. Whether you want to go on a day tour or overnight trip, are interested in fauna and wildlife, are a family with small children, a fisherman or camping tourist – then you will have a great experience.

The boat sails daily exept Mondays designated weeks during summer. Always Check www.rigmor.no for updated schedule. Both a round trip ferrytour with stops or a mini-cruise (without stops) last abouth. 1,5 hours.

MS Rigmor is probably Norway's oldest scheduled wooden ferry. We sail ferry and mini cruises among the islands in Asker and Bærum as well as school trips with training in the maritime life at sea.

The islands in Asker and Bærum you can visit:

Borøya is probably the most popular island for overnight stay and camping. The large plain and the shallow sandy beach is perfect for play, grilling and camping. The island is excellent for families with children and is a popular outdoor harbor for boaters. Toilets. Borøya is the island with the most ferry departures and arrivals, and is only 10 minutes sailing from Sandvika.

Ostøya is a large island with one of Oslo's most beautiful golf courses. Great for swimming and fishing. There is a small beach right by the ferry pier with afternoon sun. There are hiking opportunities on the island, but some scrub. During the mushroom season, Ostøya is an excellent place to "fill the basket"

Brønnøya has three piers where Rigmor stops, and its own cable ferry to the mainland. Great hiking trails, highly recommended for cycling and walking in peaceful and quiet surroundings. Feel free to combine the trip with a stop at some of the small beaches located by the ferry piers at
Brønnøya East and South. It is almost 7 km around the whole island, but the tour can be shortened considerably with roads and paths "across" the island. Cars are not allowed at Brønnøya. Opportunities to get off at one pier and be picked up at another are present. Here there are many cabins and one of the regions best preserved lime kilns on the southern tip. It is also possible to return by bus from Nesøya.

Langåra "Oslofjorden's answer to Sørlandet" is 40 minutes sailing from Sandvika and has been a favorite place for camping throughout history.
Somewhat overgrown but excellent for accommodation, swimming (not sandy beach) and fishing. Here you will find Middagsbukta with bustling boating on one side, and peaceful bathing spots and tent opportunities on the other. There is a marked hiking trail of 3 km. (not suitable for prams). It is also possible to rent accommodation in the old shop building in Middagsbukta through the Oslo Fjord Outdoor Council. The cottage was completely renovated in 2014, consists of living room, kitchen and bathroom with running water and several bedrooms with over 20 beds.

Take a bus to Sandvika station or drive, then take a ferry or mini cruise from Rigmorbryggen, which is within walking distance from Sandvika station, and a short way from E18.
