Respect the nature around you

To help protect nature and ensure good experiences for everyone, it is important to follow applicable rules when spending time outdoors.

Leash requirement for dogs. There is a national leash requirement throughout Norway from April 1 to August 20. In addition, there is an extended leash requirement on Håøya and Bergholmen until October 15 due to grazing animals.

Bonfires and open flames. There is a general ban on open fires from April 15 to September 15. During this period, it is not permitted to light fires or use disposable grills in forests and uncultivated areas, except at designated fire and barbecue sites. In periods of high fire risk, municipalities may introduce stricter rules.

Fishing restrictions in the Oslofjord. The Oslofjord is vulnerable, and strict fishing regulations apply. From January 1, 2026, zero-catch zones have been introduced where all fishing is prohibited in the Inner Oslofjord.

Do not disturb wildlife.
Show consideration for animals and birds by keeping your distance, avoiding noise, and not approaching nests, breeding sites, or grazing areas. Wildlife is especially vulnerable during breeding and nesting seasons.

Considerate conduct.
Take all your waste home and show respect for nature, people, and wildlife. Follow marked trails and signage. In protected areas, specific rules for access and activities may apply.

Show consideration for the local community

Tourism is important for Drøbak, and to ensure that visits are a positive experience for both visitors and residents, it is important to show respect for the local community.

Park only in designated areas. During peak periods, traffic can be heavy, and illegal parking can create challenges for residents, neighborhoods, and emergency vehicles. Follow signage and use public parking areas where available.

Be mindful of noise. Many places are used both for recreation and everyday life, and peace and quiet are an important part of the experience.

Use nature and shared spaces respectfully. Follow the right of access (allemannsretten), clean up after yourself, show consideration for others outdoors, and respect private property.

By showing consideration for the local community, you help create welcoming spaces and positive experiences for everyone.

Climate change and climate-friendly choices

Climate change also affects Frogn municipality, with increased risk of extreme weather, more precipitation, and impacts on nature, coastal areas, and local communities. How we travel and the choices we make along the way influence both emissions and our overall climate footprint.

By choosing climate-friendly transportation, staying longer, supporting local and environmentally certified businesses, and using nature responsibly, the environmental impact can be reduced. Many small, conscious choices together contribute to lower emissions and a more resilient destination, both now and in the future.
