The pilgrim path from Oslo through Bærum to Hønefoss is the first stage of the western route to the historic Gudbrandsdalsleden, which was the main road to Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim in the Middle Ages.
The trail starts in Oslo's Old Town at the ruins of St. Hallvard's Cathedral, where the first milestone stands.
The trip goes west through the Vigeland Park and residential areas to the Lysaker river near Lilleaker. Follow the Lysaker river on a path past waterfalls and lush landscape and through residential areas to Haslum medieval church, where the Tunsbergleden from Vestfold meets Gudbrandsdalsleden.
At Øverland, you walk into the forest in the direction of the tourist cabin Nygård. Along the way, you can spend the night at Sæteren farm, which is owned by DNT, and has the status of a pilgrim hostel. The road ahead goes on a path over Skrivarberget and down to Lommedalen. The trip goes over the golf course, crosses Lommedalsveien and you follow the forest road, the old King's Road over Krokskogen to Kleivstua Hotel. There are nice information signs along the way about life and keel burning at Kroksskogen and quite steep the first stretch with beautiful nature and forest terrain. Several nice picnic areas along the way and a small wooden lavvu.
After crossing Krokskogen, the route goes down to Sundvolden, through Hole and towards Bønsnes church and Norderhov church before arriving at Hønefoss and the Jevnaker area.

Ride to Nordbytjernet from Jessheim is easy and short. You have the option of two alternative routes.

Just follow the pedestrian- and bicycle path that runs from the center of Jessheim and follow the signs for National bicycle Route 7. From the train station it is approx. 2 km to the water, and it is a flat and easy ride.
It is great to walk around Nordbyvannet. Along the way there are many benches and rest areas. Feel free to take an alternative route back on the bicycle paths through the residential area of Nordby.

The hotels around Gardermoen are a good starting point for bicycling in Nannestad. This easy round trip begins by bicycling past the airport before heading west on pedestrian- and bicycle paths. When you approach the center of Nannestad – which is called Teigebyen – the bicycle path ends, but it is nice to bicycle into the residential area and eventually on the pedestrian path. You will find cafes and restaurants in Teigebyen and the Nannestad village museum may be worth a visit.
The return journey goes through open agricultural landscape with farms on all sides. A part with some hills but on nice dirt roads. At Nannestadveien there will be 1.5 km with a bit of traffic, before you get back on the pedestrian- and bicycle path.
Towards the end of the tour, it is recommended to park the bicycle by the hiking trail just south of the airport and walk into the ravine landscape. This is a hiking trail that gradually descends all the way to the quiet river Sogna at the bottom of the valley. There are several rest areas on the trip and there is also a signposted path to the war memorial. Here in the valley floor, there is a calm of its own – even though you are close to the airport and hear the airplane traffic at regular intervals.
