Marifjell and Nordåsen

In recent years, there has been up to two meters of snow on top and skiing all the way out in the month of May.

This trip is naturally most suitable for cross-country skiing, but if you want to go your own way to the top, both top skiing, mountain skiing and snowshoeing are a good alternative. At the top there is a small lookout tower with a wide view of Romerike and Hadelandsåsen, as well as a cabin you can seek refuge in on cold and windy days.

To check pre-registrations, the mobile app Skisporet, possibly ‘Nannestad og Bjerke løypekjørerlag’ is recommended on Facebook.

Parking area at Nordåsen Ski Stadium in Nannestad Municipality. Take the E6 to Jessheim (exit 50 or 51), and take the E16 towards Gardermoen and Hønefoss. Take the E16 towards Maura at Åmålkrysset. Drive through Maura and straight ahead at the next roundabout. Turn left right after Esso. Follow Holkebyvegen upwards 1.5 km, to a roundabout (turning point for the bus). From here you drive about 5 km along the forest road past a barrier (tolled) and past Nordåsen ski stadium, up to the large ski car park.

From here it is well signposted with maps and several possible routes to the top.

WildOslo – experiences in nature

This winter we do have two trips which is possible to book already

One is for families with children, ages 8 to 17 – parents must be present.

The other is for adults.

Winter's tours are with a Norwegian-speaking guide. André Holm has been tracking foxes and other animals since he was 8 years old. He knows the Østmarka as well as the animals. Before the guided tour, he spends many days preparing and finding out where it is best to go. A wolf safari with André is something you will remember for the rest of your life.

Duration: The tour starts at approximately 0930 at Losby Gods. It is difficult to estimate when we are back at the estate, because suddenly we find a new track to follow. We usually return after 5-6 hours, but can also, by agreement, arrange a day trip of the desired length/duration.

Group size: Maximum eight people.

Everyone should bring an extra jumper/jacket in their bag for use during breaks. It is also nice if everyone brings a dry log of wood in their bag for the fire. André and the help guide provide food for everyone.

Cross country skiing in Asker and Bærum

In Asker and Bærum, next door to Oslo, we have a huge selection of great skiing opportunities – whether you want to go downhill and alpine skiiing, exercise after work in the well lightent cross country slope, take a family tour to one of the country cabins in the forest or explore snow-covered hills – there is something for every preference and skill!

Child-friendly tours:

Shorter, child-friendly trips with good trails and nice picnic areas can be found, among other places; from FOSSUM around the light trail and up to Østernvann, from BY in LOMMEDALEN to Greinehytta and from VESTMARKA in Asker to Gupu and from SOLLI GÅRD to a selection of nice slopes. From GULLHELLA station there is flat and east terrain for trips to Sydskogen in Heggedal.

Snow covered golf courses are great for skiiing and sledging with the youngest childre, so is Sukkertoppen on Gullhaug in Lommedalen and the fields in Heggedal.

Longer cross country tours:

The forest in Asker and Bærum – known as "Marka" is excellent for longer half-day/full-day excursions for the really active – whether you choose to start in Sørkedalen, Fossum, Lommedalen, Kjekstadmarka or Vestmarka, there are many great opportunities across the areas and up through Kroksskogen. Cozy huts that serve food are Brunkollen, Haslumseter Chapel, Nygård, Løvlia, Kleivstua, Sørenga …. mm. The terrain varies from flat icy water, to slightly hilly and steep hills. It is a well prepared trail network, and both Lommedalen and Vestmarka have generally a bit more snow and longer season.

Trails with light after dawn:

It is so nice to slide on top of the white snow at "night". Beautifully groomed trails with light are available after dawn where you may spend the evening skiing. Good trails "lysløyper" can be found at Fossum 4 km, Gullhaug / Eineåsen 7.5 km hilly terrain, Vestmarksetra 5.5 km, Solvang 4.3 km, Solli 7.5 km, Vardåsen 4.6 km, Spikkestad 5 km. Otherwise – put on your headlight and head out 🙂

Winter stroll along Høvikodden

Winter stroll from Høvikodden

The coast from Sjøholmen via Høvikodden towards Sarbuvollen offers great terrain, nice hiking possibilities and beautiful cultural and natural landscapes. Summer as winter. The winter sun lights up the stretch on a good day. Take a walk in the sculpture park at Henie Onstad Art Center then continue along the water towards Veritasparken which through the years has housed a glass factory and a lamp and metal ware factory before DNV now ensures life at sea through certifications. Up in the woods you find a network of trails and a great playground in DNV Kindergarten.

Walk on ice:

During the cold winter period it often freezes between Høvikodden, Storøya, Solvik, Kalvøya and Borøya. Then the area is transformed into a great hiking area by ski, on foot, skating or kick-bikes. If the ice is safe, trails are marked. Take a stoll to Borøya and enjoy the view and a pique-nic.

It is nice to end the tour with a coffee and snack at the Piruette at Henie Onstad Art Center or at Sjøholmen.

Good parking facilities both on Høvikodden and Sjøholmen, and the bus stops nearby.
