Smia – Smithy – Pike fishing

Smia is idyllically situated in the north end of Skulerudsjøen (Skulerud lake) in the Halden Canal. The cottage is tastefully decorated and equipped with electrical heating, stove, refrigerator and fully equipped kitchen. Bedroom for 3 peoples downstairs (family bed) and 3 mattresses on the loft.

Water is collected in the service building approx. 100 meters from the cottage, were there also is access to WC and shower.

There are good fishing opportunities in Skulerudvann (Skulerud lake) both from the landside and by boat. Right next to the cabin there are a launch ramp that can be used for launching your own boat from the trailer. Smia was previously the end on Aurskog-Hølandsbanen (train station), and there are many traces of timber flowting and passenger traffic.

TRANSPORTATION

To get to Skulerud you have to come by car – Public offers are very limited. If the starting point is north of Oslo, the quickest way is to drive to Bjørkelangen by Lillestrøm and Fetsund, then follow road 115/125 to Skulerud.

If the starting point is south of Oslo the best way will be to drive E18 to Ørje, and follow signs for Skulerud (road 21 and 125).

By the main road (125), the sign to Smia is both ways – from the north and from the south. Parking is right outside the cabin.

Skulerud – Floating pier

Skulerud was the end station for the Urskog-Hølandsbanen "Tertitten" railway between Sørumsand and Skulerud.

Here it was a bustling life.

With funds from the National Heritage Board, the railway environment at Skulerud will be re-established.

There is also a service house with a disabled toilet which is open during the summer season. To be able to use the shower, you must have a key card. This costs NOK 400 for the season, and can be purchased at Kanalselskapet's online store or at Arve Dahl. (Dahl lives about 200 m from the service house, and has tel. No. 928 26 610.)

Skulerud has facilities for emptying the boat's sanitary facilities. There is a boat launching ramp at Skulerud.

At Skulerud you can also rent the idyllic Smia coastal trail and you can enjoy the sunset after a long day trip on the canal.

Here you will find Lokstallen summer café, every Saturday and Sunday this summer. You can ride a trolley and take a look at the Isbingen Museum. Pier rental NOK 120 per night. Paid on arrival. Payment is made to Vippskonto # 663824 – Guest pier fee w / electricity (Haldenvassdragets Kanalselskap)

Camp with Alpacas in nature

With us you can now spend the night outdoors with the alpacas – an experience you will soon forget.

We have rigged the campsite, groomed the animals, packed the backpack and are ready for accommodation with the alpacas!

We have a campsite in the woods with gapahuk, long table and outdoor toilet. Up to 10 participants can spend the night on their own with the alpacas.

You can take part in an ordinary alpaca hike, but this time we stop halfway (at the campsite) where you will stay, together with the alpacas, until the next day! At the campsite you have to hang up the hammock, arrange the accommodation, light a fire, cook and care for the animals. You bring equipment for overnight stays outside (sleeping bag, sleeping pad, clothes, plate, cutlery, etc.). We have hammocks and tarp for hire, as well as some sleeping pads.

The campsite has a fire place with wood, long table w / benches (and roof), gapahuk with room for 8-10 people, and outdoor toilet. As well as many trees to hang hammocks in, and plenty of space to pitch a tent. On site there is some simple refreshments: Sausages and burgers with simple accessories, breakfast (polar bread with various toppings) and some snacks. Water is available (in cans) on site.

If you want something else to eat or drink, or have needs in connection with allergies or the like, you must bring the desired food and drink yourself. The next day we come and pick you up, and the alpacas, back to the farm.

The alpacas will be around you all the time and you are responsible for their well-being.
