3. Bicycle tour at Romerike, Oslo Airport – Jessheim round trip

This tour will bring you from the airport at Gardermoen to Jessheim on a nice bicycle path. Feel free to return on a dirt road past idyllic Ljøgodttjern and historic Raknehaugen.

You will find very good facilities for bicycling between the airport at Gardermoen and the town of Jessheim.

The first thing you meet is a small park with benches and flowers, before the pedestrian- and bicycle path begins. It takes you safely out of the airport area and is well signposted all the way to Jessheim. The ride is easy with asphalt and just a few slopes. Even if you bicycle parallel to the road, there are longer distances with a view of open landscape.

In Jessheim there are restaurants, cafes and shops. The train stops here, and it is also possible to continue along the National Bicycle Route 7 Pilgrim's Route both north and south.

For a bit of variety, the return journey is partly on cozy dirt roads and stops at Ljøgodttjern with swimming opportunities. Raknehaugen is an old burial ground and is also worth a stop, before the return to Gardermoen. This tour returns to the bicycle parking lot at the airport.

Biking at Romerike Jessheim – Algarheim – Nordkisa

Tour description

The tour starts from Jessheim train station and is a easy cycling tour. The beginning of the tour is on a road with some traffic or on pavement before it after approx. 1 km leads to a nice separate cycle path along Algarheimsvegen. This continues all the way to Algarheim, but turn off towards the old Algarheimsvegen where it is quieter, quieter and more idyllic through the forest.

Biking Hurum from farm to farm

The bike tour starts in Holmsbu, an idyllic village with a pier, restaurants, shops and a charming hotel. The tour goes up steeply past Holmsbu Church from 1887, decorated by Henrik Sørensen and other Holmsbu painters.

You then cycle to Sand Farm, which has a farm shop, bakery, café and activities all year round. Then you follow Granvoll Farm, with local honey, and Grønnsletta Farm, which offers its own lamb and pork, yarn and cheese.

At Kana the road becomes quieter. From here you can take a 3 km detour to Knatvoldstranda camping for a swimming stop. Alternatively, you continue to Bergsmyrene Farm, with a self-service shop and organic products.

A gravel road leads to Biffgården, where you will find meat products in a self-service shop and grazing cows. The route then goes up Jahrenveien, past Ravnsborg garden which has the most beautiful flowers, and further through farmland and forest.

On the way down you pass Honningbua, a small outlet with local honey, before reaching Rødtangen, a cozy place by the sea. The last part goes on asphalt back to Holmsbu and along here you can take detours and see the dolmen and Viking mounds, Støa artist's site and Holmsbu Art Museum with motifs from the artist Henrik Sørensen.

The trip is 23 km long with many meters of elevation gain – an electric bike makes the slopes easier. Between Sand and Grønnsletta there may be some traffic and the section is not suitable for smaller children.

Biking along Vorma

6. Biycle tour on Romerike, starting from Best Western Plus Oslo Airport

The hotels around Gardermoen are a good starting point for bicycling in Nannestad. This easy round trip begins by bicycling past the airport before heading west on pedestrian- and bicycle paths. When you approach the center of Nannestad – which is called Teigebyen – the bicycle path ends, but it is nice to bicycle into the residential area and eventually on the pedestrian path. You will find cafes and restaurants in Teigebyen and the Nannestad village museum may be worth a visit.

The return journey goes through open agricultural landscape with farms on all sides. A part with some hills but on nice dirt roads. At Nannestadveien there will be 1.5 km with a bit of traffic, before you get back on the pedestrian- and bicycle path.

Towards the end of the tour, it is recommended to park the bicycle by the hiking trail just south of the airport and walk into the ravine landscape. This is a hiking trail that gradually descends all the way to the quiet river Sogna at the bottom of the valley. There are several rest areas on the trip and there is also a signposted path to the war memorial. Here in the valley floor, there is a calm of its own – even though you are close to the airport and hear the airplane traffic at regular intervals.
