Skibladner D/S

Welcome to Skibladner D/S

Skibladner has served Mjøsa since 1856 and was originally built as an extension of Norway's first railway between Christiania and Eidsvoll in 1854. Skibladner was the onward connection between Eidsvoll and Lillehammer. In recent years, Skibladner has been restored with the help of funds from the National Archives and today appears as a floating museum.

The ship was awarded the Norwegian Cultural Heritage's "Olavsrosa" quality label. The ship has a restaurant (1st place Matsalon), cafeteria (2nd place Matsalon), men's and women's salon.
For catchy happy jazz, accordion or a classical concert on deck, Skibladner is available for charter trips from the end of May to mid-September.
Just as famous as the ship itself is the traditional menu on board in the 1st place dining room, namely salmon and strawberries. This menu has long traditions on board, but it is of course possible to order other dishes. The ship can seat up to 130 people seated at tables in the various lounges. Join us on a spectacular cruise with the passage of four bridges on the way down to the constitutional city.

Would you like to combine it with a trip to Eidsvoll 1814? There is a bus service between Eidsvoll Station and Eidsvoll 1814 – check out ruter.no – bus number 430.

You can meet at the piers and buy a ticket from a ticket agent, or reserve tickets online so you are sure to get a seat. Read more on Skibladner's own website for timetables and ports. https://www.skibladner.no

Eidsvoll 1814 – Norwegian Center for Constitution

It was here, in this house "of unreasonable size" said by the owner Carsten Anker himself, that the Eidsvoll men were gathered for 6 hectic weeks in the spring of 1814, and wrote the Norwegian constitution.

The tour starts by train from Oslo to Eidsvoll and change to Bus 430 Eidsvoll to Eidsvoll Verk. Walk up to the museum at Eidsvoll1814.

Visit and guided tour of the Eidsvoll building , which arranges various themed tours throughout the year. The museum is open all year round and the tours are suitable for both adults and children. Experience the beautiful building and the beautiful interior and art, and at the same time learn the story of 1814 – the year in which Norway left the over 400-year-long "Danish era", in which we abolished absolutism, wrote the Norwegian Constitution, elected a king, lost a war, unionized with Sweden and got our third king of the year.

In Wergelands House/ Center of Democracy for youths the  focus is on getting you involved for democracy – simply "caring". All visitors receive their personal ID chip. By using this on scanners around the exhibition, you get to create a personal democratic profile. The story of the Eidsvoll men and the Constitution is conveyed through film and narrative in the "New National Hall"; a modern hall inspired by the original National Hall.

It is also possible to eat food with flavors from 1814 in Kafe Standpunkt  and an exciting selection of cakes and lunch dishes is served too. Continue onwards to Galleri Festiviteten on the other side of the river, a short walk away. In Festiviteten's historic buildings and pleasant surroundings, you can still feel the old industrial history, while attending art exhibitions and museums. Let yourself be immersed by a wide selection of handicrafts and jewellery or enjoy the café life in pleasant and family-friendly surroundings. Stallgården was Eidsvoll Verk Manor's stable and was built in 1909. The expo consist of the country's largest private carriage collection with nostalgic tubs and beautiful carriages. Open in the summer season from May to September.

Bus back to the station or stroll about 7 km through historical surroundings back to Eidsvoll Verk.

Make a visit to Wergelandshaugen Cultural Center where there is an open sculpture park, café and they arrange events for everyone. In the venerable Sorenskriverboligen from 1921 and the contemporary architecture in Kunstlåven from 2021, you get a journey into the history of architecture. You are invited to art experiences both outside and inside, with art in production and finished works. In the café, Amalies Garden, you can enjoy delicious food in inspiring surroundings and in the Magistrate's residence a guided tour can be booked.

Return to Oslo by train, or even better – extend your stay with accommodation in the iconic WonderINN Culture Hub where there are 4 modern cabins for rent.

Rock carvings and wildlife tour to Dælivann

The cultural landscape below Kolsåstoppen is an exciting area with traces of early settlements, rich wildlife and connections to famous painters such as Christian Skredsvig and his work "The Boy with the flute" that is displayed in the National Gallery and here we also find rare petroglyphs from the early Iron Age that are important for depicting and understanding our ship history.

At Dalbo, there are the first traces of one of the most important technological innovations in shipping in the years around the birth of Christ. The rock carvings of ships on the rock surfaces at Dalbo show the transition from ships that are paddled to ships that are rowed. This development took place sometime between 500 BC and the first centuries after Christ. The development of the rowing ship opened up to be able to build larger boats and cross over longer stretches of sea. The new technology that developed changed the cultural conditions in Norway and the Nordic countries, in the form of increased interaction, cultural influence, trade and warfare.

Dælivann is located in an area that "has the most": ancient cultural landscape, silence, burial mounds and traces of early settlements, old manor sites, carvings from the Bronze and Iron Age as well as lush farms. The area is rich in bird life, insects, flowers and trees. Here you can explore trails and a mosaic of habitats from swamps, streams and freshwater areas through rich cultural sites to varied forest environments, with exciting topography and geology including flat cultural sites, steep slopes and cliffs, where you can experience the two great peaks of Kolsås with extrodinary view over the Oslo area and the Oslo Fjord. Explore trails, nature trail with signs and popular climbing routes depending on available time and skills.

A cultural and nature trail has been created. The path is approx. 3 km that goes into the mixed forest which is part of the Skotta and Dalbo nature reserve.

And in winter time you can fish for roach, perch and pike, and there is an opportunity to go ice skating on Dælivannet.

The tour starts at the Godthaab bus stop. Arrival by own car or 30 min by bus 150 from Oslo / Lysaker. Approximately 1km to enter the cultural landscape from the bus stop, stroll around Dæhlivann (approx. 5km).

Alt 1 – Explore the nature reserve by the lake and the rock carvings. A stroll on dirt roads and trails.

Alt 2 – A hike in the nature reserve with a tour to the Kolsås Summit. A steep climb up to the top of the Kolsås. A 4 hour tour. You have to bring your lunch box and thermos.

Drøbak: Fjord and Forest Guided Tours

Explore the forest and the Oslo fjord near the idyllic seaside town Drøbak with an expert guide. Hike through the pine and birch woods. Marvel at the country home of Norwegian painter Edvard Munch.

Enjoy this guided tour starting from the idyllic seaside town Drøbak 30 km south of Oslo. Wander through the forest and along the coastal path of the Oslo fjord. Meet the guide at Skiphellestranda, one of Drøbak's beaches, hike through the woods to Ramme Gård, a famous farm and beauty spot where you can visit the country home of Norwegian artist Edvard Munch by the fjord.

After lunch, we walk back to Drøbak via different route. Total distance about 10 km (6 miles), moderately challenging terrain. During the trip you will be served a homemade Norwegian style bun and coffee. We also provide hammocks to put up between trees on the beach where you can relax, listen to the birdsong and the waves lapping the shoreline. If you want, bring a picnic or buy lunch at the Ramme Gård cafe.

During the trip you can visit the small ponds where Norwegians produced ice blocks which they transported to England in the 18th century. British people got the ice and could cool down their food and maybe their gin and tonics 🙂

If needed, the official information centre Visit Drøbak & Oscarsborg in the centre of the town (Havnegata 4) offers free bikes to take you to the meeting point at Skiphellestranda, about 3 km south. This trip will happen at least 3-4 times a week, more if needed. Group discounts available.

Markaopplevelser

My name is Bjørn Eide and I own the company Markaopplevelser, which started 10 years ago and is located in Lommedalen.
Join the adventures in our grand nature; Where to find the best lakes for fishing? Where can we experience Blackcock and Tiur mating? Where does the Osprey live? These are examples of experiences I can show you. I share my local knowledge by inspiring and motivating my audience.

I emphasize safe guiding and take you through magnificent scenery.

Nature has always been a place I have lived in close contact with, ever since I was a little boy. With a mother born and raised in Krokskogen, and grandparents who had their work in there, the paths were just waiting for me to explore.
As an active cross-country skier for many years, I have crossed the forest many times. In the summer, I am an avid angler.

I have a lot of local knowledge in Bærumsmarka, Krokskogen, Nordmarka and Vestmarka. I'll be happy to guide you and your colleagues through some splendid nature experiences all year round.f

Welcome.

WildOslo guided kayak tour in nature

Guided kayak excursion of about 3.5 hours at Langen in Oslomarka. The tour starts south of Oslo near Siggerud and is conducted with experienced local nature guides. You'll learn to stay safe in your kayak. Escape the crowds and join a great tour among beautiful scenery, birds and peace.
Included: A good lunch • Kayaking equipment (oar, vest) • The guide will bring a towel in case you want to swim

The tour is suitable for small groups up to 5 people.

Om Langen

Paddling on Langen is a bit like paddling on a wide and drowsy river. Langen is about 9 kilometers long and we paddle parts of it, past small islands, some farms, duck families and beaver huts – most of the time you paddle in wilderness. You start in the north, at Bru. The lake is popular among fishermen, and you will find everything from perch to trout, bream and protected eel. There are many nice places to go ashore, as well as tent sites here and there.

Access: Take the bus, to Bru – it takes 31 minutes from Bjørvika (bus 550 change to 515 at Klementsrud).
