Cottage Trulsrudkollen

The hut is i situated at Trulsrudkollen with spectacular view during the day and in the evening. Enjoy the tranquility of the forest, the starry sky and at the same time glimpse the lights of the city in far distance.

The cabin is excellent for a couple, a small group of friends or if you are looking for closeness to nature all by yourself. The cabin is booked online and through Inatur, see the link at the bottom of the description.

Facilities:

Cozy log cabin with 3-5 beds.

Living room with dining table and room for 6 people.

Kitchen with stove top (4 gas burners), bunk oven, small gas fridge and sink.

Bedroom with bunk bed, where lower bunk (120X200) can be used as a double bed. The upper bunk is 80 cm wide. In the living room, you can sleep on a bunk bed (70X200) and in a cozy pull-out bed (80X160), where children can easily fall asleep in the evening.

The cabin has a large 3-bay window with a view to the south, a 2-bay window facing the view to the east, a 2-bay kitchen window to the west and a 2-bay bedroom window to the north. All windows are double and small-paned.

The annex is located directly behind the main house and has been recently renovated and furnished (summer and autumn 2023). It is possible to rent the annex with up to 4 extra beds, in addition to the main cabin. The annex has a family bunk, where the lower bunk is 120X200 and the upper bunk is 80X200. The sleeping area is 70X230.

Directly behind the cabin is an untouched forest that is an eldorado for children ("adventure forest"). Here there is a rich bird and animal life, with good opportunities to find mushrooms and berries for those who search during the summer season…

Guest have to bring bed sheets and drinking water. Outdoor toilet. Guest are requested to tidy and clean the hut upon departure.

Smia – Smithy – Pike fishing

Smia is idyllically situated in the north end of Skulerudsjøen (Skulerud lake) in the Halden Canal. The cottage is tastefully decorated and equipped with electrical heating, stove, refrigerator and fully equipped kitchen. Bedroom for 3 peoples downstairs (family bed) and 3 mattresses on the loft. 

Water is collected in the service building approx. 100 meters from the cottage, were there also is access to WC and shower.

 

There are good fishing opportunities in Skulerudvann (Skulerud lake) both from the landside and by boat. Right next to the cabin there are a launch ramp that can be used for launching your own boat from the trailer. Smia was previously the end on Aurskog-Hølandsbanen (train station), and there are many traces of timber flowting and passenger traffic.

 

TRANSPORTATION

To get to Skulerud you have to come by car – Public offers are very limited. If the starting point is north of Oslo, the quickest way is to drive to Bjørkelangen by Lillestrøm and Fetsund, then follow road 115/125 to Skulerud.

If the starting point is south of Oslo the best way will be to drive E18 to Ørje, and follow signs for Skulerud (road 21 and 125).

By the main road (125), the sign to Smia is both ways – from the north and from the south. Parking is right outside the cabin.

Kapteinsboligen in Evjua

About the Captain's Residence
Kapteinsboligen (the Captain's Residence) is an old timber house steeped in history. For many years it was the home of Einar Haugland, former skipper of the paddle steamer Skibladner (built in 1967) and an active sailor on both lake Mjøsa and the seven seas, hence the name. The venerable house has now become the perfect holiday destination for anglers eager to hook Mjøsa’s many fish species, and for family and friends who want to relax and experience the Mjøsa area at its best. Totenåsen with its great walking trails is just 15 minutes’ drive away, making Kapteinsboligen an ideal base for your holiday.

The house has a brand new kitchen and bathroom, sleeps 9 people and has both a dining room and sitting room with wonderful views of lake Mjøsa.

Romantic accomodation on island in river Glomma

Romantic accommodation for two in cozy Lensmannskoia on Prestøya with a great view of the river Glomma.

The cabin is tastefully furnished with a double bed, fridge, duvets and pillows, electricity and fireplace heating. It is beautifully situated on Prestøya in the middle of the river Glomma between the Norwegina forrest museum and Anno Glomdalsmuseum. Museum tickets are included in the accomodation fee.

Service facilities (water, shower and wc) can be found 150 meters from the cabin. Accommodation in the Lensmannskoia is on self-catering basis. Pillows and down are in the bunk, bed linen you have to provide your self. On departure, you clean the cabin, do the dishes and remove the rubbish.
The key to the cabin is in the key box by the door. You get a code after booking the cabin and the stay is paid for.

Accommodation in Lensmanskoia provides easy access to cultural and nature experiences at the Norwegian Forest Museum and the Glomdalsmuseum, the third largest outdoor museum in Norway. Museum tickets to both museums are included. Elverum is a superb starting point for hundreds of kilometers of bike trails, bushcrafting courses on Prestøya or a guidet tour through Finnskogen forest. Experiences can include moose & beaver safaris, wilderness or aquavit tasting or paddling trips in the Kynna River. Walk one of the refugee routes or follow the King's footsteps from 1940 at Elverum. 

Wine and dine? It is super cozy to grill sausages in the fireplace. There are barbecue skewers in the cabin. Something å little more fancy? Try restaurant Forstmann at the forest museum og visit one of Elverum's restaurants in the city centre just a short walk away along the river.

Skulerud – Floating pier

Skulerud was the end station for the Urskog-Hølandsbanen "Tertitten" railway between Sørumsand and Skulerud.

Here it was a bustling life.

With funds from the National Heritage Board, the railway environment at Skulerud will be re-established.

There is also a service house with a disabled toilet which is open during the summer season. To be able to use the shower, you must have a key card. This costs NOK 400 for the season, and can be purchased at Kanalselskapet's online store or at Arve Dahl. (Dahl lives about 200 m from the service house, and has tel. No. 928 26 610.)

Skulerud has facilities for emptying the boat's sanitary facilities. There is a boat launching ramp at Skulerud.

At Skulerud you can also rent the idyllic Smia coastal trail and you can enjoy the sunset after a long day trip on the canal.

Here you will find Lokstallen summer café, every Saturday and Sunday this summer. You can ride a trolley and take a look at the Isbingen Museum. Pier rental NOK 120 per night. Paid on arrival. Payment is made to Vippskonto # 663824 – Guest pier fee w / electricity (Haldenvassdragets Kanalselskap)

Stonehuts at Kastad Farm in Gjøvik

Unique accommodation – stone cabins at Kastad Gård, Gjøvik.

In the middle of the field, with a beautiful view over Lake Mjøsa, Sverre Braastad cleared stones every summer until he was over 90 years old. In 2020, Eva and Patrick set up a beautiful stone hut of these stones and furnished it for guests.
The stone cabin became so popular that in 2021 they chose to build two new stone cabins. These are winter isolated and can be slept in all year round. The comfort is impeccable and the breakfast unforgettable. A 3-course dinner is served to those who wish.

The stone cabins at Kastad is a fantastic experience for those who want to experience something completely unique.
Kastadtjernet and Ramberget are popular hiking destinations nearby, the stone cabins are in the middle!
