Beachguide to Drøbak

Drøbak in Frogn municipality is the leading Oslofjord swimming resort, with 60 km of shoreline. 

Skiphellebukta south of Drøbak centre has sandy beach and smooth rock. Kiosk, fresh water shower, info. board, excellent for families with children. parking, two km to the bus connection.

Torkildstranda south of Drøbak centre has sandy beach, ramp for windsurfers, large parking area, bus connection.

Elleskjær sout of Torkildstranda has smooth rock, kiosk, parking, two km to bus connection.

Håøya island outside of Drøbak. Small coves with sand and pebbles. Diving, sites for tents, fishing, rambling.

Oscasborg Fortress. Northern tip of of Nordre Kaholmen: Bathing from beach and rocks, beach hut. A little further south: Bathing from sandy beach and rocks near the visitor quay. Access: Ferry to Oscarsborg or moor you own boat in the marina.

Kalvøya and Kadettangen beach

More information about the beaches of Kadettangen and Kalvøya

Kalvøya is an extremely popular destination for both locals and visitors, with boating, swimming, barbeques, sports, etc. The island has several bays with sand beaches with swimming facilities including rafts with diving boards, buoys, climbing frames, toilets and showers. The gravel paths on the island also make the area suitable for wheelchair users and pushchairs. Most of the beaches are found on the island’s west and southern sides. There is a separate naturist beach on the east side of the island. Kalvøya is also known for its many music festivals and football tournaments. Bærum Kayak clubb have their clubhouse, “Båtsportens hus”, on the island’s north side. Several burial mounds have been discovered on Kalvøya from both the Bronze and Iron Ages. A stroll around the island is well signposted with various kinds of information.
 

Kadettangen is situated just before Kalvøybroa bridge on the east side. This area was previously used as a training camp for the cadet school (1869-1896), hence the name. Today, you will find football pitches here, as well as clubhouses and sports halls that are used by Bærum Sports Club. The beach area at Kadettangen is one of Bærum’s finest, with diving and swimming jetties, wheelchair ramps down to the water, sand volleyball courts, a kiosk, four permanent barbecue grills, toilets and showers. On the right side before the Kalvøybroen bridge is a cosy guest dock for visitors, and a separate quay for the Rigmor and Rigfar ferries.

There is car parking at Kadettangen before the bridge over to Kalvøya.

Places to swim in Gjerdrum

Lysdammen
Lysdammen bathing place is a nice place with a privileged location close to the entrance of Romeriksåsen. A popular area for adults and children throughout the summer. It is a green area around parts of the little sea and opportunities for those who are handicapped.

Places to swim in Rælingen

Åmodtdammen is a nice place to swin in Rælingen. To get there you must drive to  Løvenstad, and then go from there. The road up to the lake is wide and nice but is a little steep on the last stretch. Åmodtdammen is suitable for everyone and it is also nice walks in the area.

Myrdammen
Myrdammen in Rælingen lies to the east of Østmarka, 500 meters off the main road at Nordby on the west side of the lake Øyeren. It is a popular swimming spot. It is designed with diving board, swim dock and wheelchair ramp. There is also a reason well suited for small children and there are toilets.

Places to swin in Nes

Veslesjøen
Veslesjøen has a nice sandy beach and a municipal swimming area located about 5 km from the center Årnes. Follow signs to Dragsjøhytta, until you see the sign Veslesjøen

  Funnefoss – Daskerudstranda
Along the E16 at Frognerstranda camping / Funnefoss is another municipal swimming area located just below the power station and
Funnefoss museum in Glomma. It is a long, sandy beach, but also
opportunities for diving and jumping. Be aware of possible rapid changes in water flow due to the power station!

Sagstusjøen
Sagstusjøen located about 10 km from Årnes in direction Bjørknes.
Swimming from the rocks and pier. It is also suitable for fishing facilities.

Merrahølen
Merrahølen located in the river Kampåa about one km above Nes Skianlegg in Fenstad. A small sandy beach.
NB! Toll road.

Hvamsetertjernet
Hvamsetertjernet located on Hvam near the Neskollen and Tomteråsen. There is no road access here, but marked trail from both Udnes school, Neskollen and parking between Neskollen and Udnes.

Bunesnabben
Bunesnabben located at Bjørknes Sea southeast of the forest in Nes municipality about 25 km from Årnes. Several small beaches and a great swimming area. It also set up benches and fireplace on the site.

Fløyta
Nice sandy beach. Follow E16 to Dysterud, and from here the road to Togstad and turn right towards Husåsskogen. From here one can either follow the blue marked trail about 2.5 miles from Bethel, or run forest road to the swimming area.

Places to swim in Hurdal

Meieriodden
Shallow sandy beach close to Hurdal church on Hurdalsenteret Church.    Picnic areas and toilet for disabled, parking.

Åssanden
At the north end of Hurdalsjøen, at the end of Hurdal River. Shallow, with fine sand.Plenty of space and picnic areas. Children’s play area, toilet with disabled access,  parking.

Høversjøen
Small sandy beach, with limited space. Floating dock / canoe dock (can also be used as fishing pier). Toilet Disability, picnic areas. Limited parking  better parking about 200 m away.

  Toilet, carparking.

Swimming at Oscarsborg Fortress

At Oscarsborg you can find small secluded beaches for a nice swim. Try out The Commandants beach at the north end of the island.

Places for swimming in Vestby municipality

There are a number og beautiful beaches near the coastal towns Son and Hvitsten.

Nordre Sauholmen is an island and ideal for excursions opposite Son centre. Anchorage, but no public jetty. Sandy beaches.

Son bathing beach south of Son centre offers sandy beach and smooth rock. Divingboard, bathing ladders, kiosk, parking places, bus connection.

Brevikbukta south of Son centre. Smooth rock, pitch, parking place.

Hulvik south of Krokstrand offers sandy beach and smooth rock. open-air area, flat coastal area, parking places, ideal for families with children.

Kjøvangen south of Hulvik. Sandy beach and smooth rock, open-air area, popular quayside, beatiful area for walks.

Krokstrand/Skjellvika between Son and Hvitsten: Sandy beach andsmooth rock. Ideal for families with children.

Emmerstadbukta south of Hvitsten: Sandy beach, open-air area, shoreline. Quay, flat grassy areas, parking places, nearby paths for walks.

Hvitstenstranda in Hvitsten centre: Sandy beach and grass, Kiosk, small jetty, benches, parking, bus to centre.

 

Beaches Fornebu

Fornebukta Beach – Fornebu

Fornebukta is located on the north side of Fornebu. At Smedtangen right outside the swimming area you will find barbeque area and opportunity for fishing. You also have the opportunities to buy lunch or a refreshing drink at the Radison Blu hotel located just behind the swimming area.

Getting there: Drive to Fornebu, follow the signs Hotel Radison Blu.

Parking: Upon Telenor Arena.

 

Rolfstangen Beach – Fornebu

Rolfstangen is located on the southeast side of Fornebu.

Rolfstangen has two sandy beaches separated by a rocky outcrop with rough mountains. Outside the north shore, there are some rocks and seaweed.

Paved road down from the parking area provides good access for wheelchair

Walking distance to Sjøflyhavna tavern little further north where you can get refreshments.

Getting there: Drive to Fornebu, follow signs to Snarøya, then signs to Rolfstangen. Drive past the beach sign, to get to the parking lot.

Pelvikodden Beach – Fornebu

Pelvikodden is located southeast of Fornebu,   south of Rolfstangen. Here is a nice sandy beach with some shells and rough rocks typical of the Oslo area.

Its location allows Pelvikodden access to fresh seawater from the fjord. Pelvikodden is a popular fishing spot as well.

Getting there: Drive to Fornebu, follow signs to Snarøya. Turn left into Haldenveien.

Parking: Free parking.

 

Halden Brygge – Fornebu

Halden pier is located just south of Pelvikodden swimming area.

Getting there: Drive to Fornebu, follow signs to Snarøya. Turn left into Haldenveien.

Parking: Free parking.

 

Fürst Brygge – Fornebu

Nice bathing place on the southeastern of Snarøya. Nice sandy beach.  Popular fishing spot.

Getting there: Take the bike or bus to Snarøya.

Parking: no.

 

Storøyodden Beach – Fornebu

Storøyodden swimming area is located at the tip of the promontory on Storøy.

Storøyodden has a great sandy beach.  Nice coastal path in the area if you are tired of lying on the beach.

Handicap friendly ramp and outside shower.

Service facilities with toilets and a kiosk. The kiosk does not except cards.

Blue Flag 2009 and 2010.

Getting there: by bus or bike. Bus stop at Fornebu West.

Parking: 6 Handicap parking lots right on the beach. Parking by Storøya village center, Fornebu Arena or on Oksenøya.

 

Sarbuvollen Beach – Høvik

Sarbuvollen swimming area has a nice little sandy beach. At the entrance to Holtkilen.

Access: Coastal path or bike to the end of Sarbuvollveien

 

Båtstøjordet Beach – Høvik

Båtstøjordet is a small swimming area located at Holtekilen. Nice playground and soccer field.

Access: Coastal path or bike to Båtstøjordet.

Parking: Small car park 50 meters from the beach.

 

Sjøskogen Beach – Høvik

Sjøskogen swimming area is located north of Veritas Park. The coastal path on this stretch is impassable with a stroller.

Hovik swimming area – Veritas Park

Hovik swimming area is located along the coastal path from Veritas to Høvikodden. It is a mixture of natural rock and sandy beach.

There are several benches along the beach as part of the Veritas Park.

Getting there: Follow the coastal path from Høvikodden or Veritas.

 

Høvikodden sandy beach

The beach at Høvikodden is quite small and is located 50 meters south of Henie Onstad Art Centre. Private property on the east side.

The sculpture park outside the art center and worth a visit if you're tired of lying on the beach.

Lunch and refreshments you can buy at Bølgen and Moi, the restaurant at the art center.

Getting there: Follow signs to Blommenholm and Hennie Onstad Art Centre. Bus to Høvikodden from Oslo city center.

Parking: The parking lot at the art center.

 

Kadettangen Beach – Sandvika

Kadettangen is a very popular beach in Sandvika, Bærum Municipality. 

Swimming raft with diving board.

Rigmor MS and MS Rigfar have docked on the south side of Kadettangen. Nice option if you want to get out on one of the islands in Vestfjorden.

Getting there: Drive to Sandvika, down to the sea front of the town hall.

Parking: Large free parking at the beach or pay parking under the E18 Bridge.

 

Kalvøya Naturist beach – Sandvika

Kalvøya naturist beach is for nudists.

Access: Park at Kadettangen, Sandvika. Go over the bridge to Kalvøya, follow the gravel road north. The beach is located about Mid-calf Island’s northern coastline.

Store badebukt swimming area – Sandvika

Store badebukt is the largest and best sandy beach on Kalvøya. It is located south of Kalvøya. Sun all day. There is a large grass area above the beach which is suitable for ball games.

Swimming raft with diving boards (1.2meter).

There are great hiking trails around the Kalvøya.

Getting there: Drive to Sandvika, parking lots at Kadettagen or under the freeway bridge. Go over the bridge to Kalvøya and follow the trail along the south side.

Lille badebukt swimming area – Sandvika

Nice sandy beach.

Getting there: Drive to Sandvika, go over the bridge to Kalvøya, follow the trail along the south end of Kalvøya.

Ramton Activities – mini golf – memo – tennis

Play a round of golf on our 9-hole golf course with a driving range and practice area. Participate in frisbee golf or pirate-inspired mini golf. You can How about a game of tennis, bocce or test your scoring skills in the ball pit and on our interactive ball wall SUTU. We have two playgrounds with climbing frames, various houses and a bike path and the innovative Memo play columns – which combine play, learning and physical activity in a fun and engaging way.

We have a beautiful beach, great fishing spots, tennis court, playground, 9-hole golf course, volleyball court and great hiking opportunities. Spend a day or a weekend during the summer season with enjoyable activities for the whole family. On Saturday evening we have entertainment and pier dancing.

Open daily 10-20 during school vacation approx June 20th to Aug 15th. 

Accommodation
We have nice flats, place for caravans and tents for rent. 

Concerts
Every Saturday from midsummer to the end of July we organize pier dance, often with famous dance bands. Here there is room for everyone who wants a good summer.
